As he prepares for court, he is deluged by a storm of national attention and criticism. He wants just one attorney on his side in the fight of his life—Luke Baxter. IN THIS MOMENT Is more than a Baxter family novel. The storyline takes you into today's headlines and Karen Kingsbury gives us a story that is a definite masterpiece. We get to catch up with the beloved Baxter family, but the main focus is on the youngest Baxter, Luke. Lawyer and religious freedom fighter. Luke is passionate in his job defending others religious rights and freedoms. But, at what cost? Long hours and late nights has put a strain on his marriage and family life. Can he learn to balance both? Will the love and support from his wife and family help him? For the biggest fight of his life defending religious freedom is about to unfold.....Wendell Quinn, principal of Hamilton High School needs to find a way to change his failing school. Tired of the violence, drug abuse and teen pregnancies, he decides to start a voluntary after school Bible study group called Raise The Bar. He knows the risks, but with much prayer and his love for his students he goes ahead with his plan. Will the students and faculty embrace the group? Will itmake a difference?Change happens and his school is back on track until a student's father finds out his daughter is attending the group. A lawsuit. Will Wendell shut the group down? In his research, Wendell had made note of the only man he would want to defend him if this happened. Luke Baxter.Luke is hesitant at first. Can he find precedent to help win the case? Will Principal Quinn lose everything? Will the jury reach the right verdict? IN THIS MOMENT takes you inside the courtroom for the battle of justice in religious liberty. As I read IN THIS MOMENT, I found myself realizing in today's world, religious freedoms are seriously at risk. Lawsuits? Not being able to pray, read your Bible or speak God's name? Not exactly how our founding fathers envisioned our world today. The words that Wendell Quinn was given by his youth football coach will be forever with me, " What good can I do in this moment? " How far would you go to preserve your freedoms?Karen Kingsbury always leaves you with a message and the story always stays with you days after you are finished reading. Faith, family, and freedom, worth fighting for.Karen Kingsbury, I loved IN THIS MOMENT! Thank you for bringing a very relevant story to us. Highly recommend reading.

Karen Kingsbury gives such an amazing spirit filled story. This story had a lovely current event feel to it that tugged at my heart strings every page. I loved the story she weaved from new characters, to The Baxter family I love reading about. I really felt like Karen Kingsbury truly is one of the best authors of this time. I love her stories and how she always spreads the gospel. This time we aren’t just seeing the Baxter family, we meet new characters. A principal and his son. Principal Quinn is trying to help his school while his son wants to help in any way he can. The story goes through everyone’s trials and tribulations, but it also shows God’s grace. Relationships are formed and families are tested. Truly a wonderful read.

This is a great read! It is very timely with the topic of Religious freedom. Karen Kingsbury is a master storyteller and engages the reader immediately.

In This Moment goes right along with what is happening in the world today. Especially Christianity. Glad to see the Baxter's are back!!

I was really happy with the latest Baxter books. I like the family and was looking forward to more stories about them. This is only very tangentially about the Baxters, and even the Baxter portions feel tacked on to the real storyline. As to the story itself, I found it poorly written. Entire chapters just plodded on. For example, Cami spent a whole chapter agonizing about her father coming the parents’ meeting. On and on and on—would he come? He’d be so angry! What would he do? Oh, good—he’s not here! Oh, no—he IS here (of course he was). Alicia having panic attacks about Wendell being “thrown in jail” for having a Bible study on campus. Just a lot of hand-wringing and very little action. Finally, I found the plot ethically troubling. When I was in (public) high school, I was in a lunchtime Bible study that one of the teachers let us have in his classroom. You know what we did? We got permission. We went through the appropriate processes. It seems both far-fetched and wrong that a Christian principal would launch something like this without running it by the school board and finding out about district policy first. (It also seemed pretty contrived that it went on for over a year before anyone paid attention.)For those who would argue that Wendell was just listening to God, I ask you: What if the principal of your kids’ high school started, without permission or consultation, an on-campus after-school Koran study or a Torah study or a Book of Mormon study or even an Atheists United study? Would you be fine with that? I’m guessing not.So I thought the book was poorly written, a bit of a bait-and-switch when it came to the “Baxter Family” angle, and pretty far-fetched and contrived—and with a main character that was well-intentioned but, at the end of the day, acted inappropriately.Definitely a misfire on a lot of different levels.

First of all, I love Karen Kingsbury's books. This one is another one in the Baxter series and I love all them as well. It was one I couldn't put down. It was so good and involved Luke Baxter as an attorney battling for religious rights that as a Christian we all may be battling for before too long the way our country is going. Very interesting reading and thought provoking.

Karen has done it again! Kept me riveted to her books! I loved the story! It contained so much of what we as Christians are facing everyday! So powerful! I also loved getting reacquainted with the Baxter family! I have read almost all of Karen's books. I love the dedications she writes about her family. I remember when she adopted her boys, and have been able to keep up with her family as I read the dedications in her books. I look forward to this series! Spring can't come soon enough! 😊
