This is a great book..detailed with pics and great detail on how to do the designs and use the paints an other materials..im very pleased....
This book helped me tremendously to paint rocks. I'm not very artistic but with the help I received from here I'm doing awesome with painting my rocks.
Our family has always really enjoyed collecting rocks — not so much rocks of any special beauty or composition, but from places we wanted to remember. Eventually, we ended up with a quite a few river rocks, with flat, smooth surfaces. Those rocks actually work great with the ideas from The Art of Stone Painting. It’s really nice to make those rocks into mini art works by painting designs, creatures, and scenes like those suggested in this beautiful book. The instructions are clear and engaging, while the photos are lovely and inspiring. One unique idea that stood out to me in this book was that by outlining the painted details with a fineliner pen, it really makes the colors and design pop. Also, using paint pens really helps to add the paint into small areas. I’m surprised by how just starting with one small part at a time, we can eventually create beautiful designs, plants, animals, or what-have-you. Simple instructions and suggestions for paints and pens are very helpful, and by emulating a few of her patterns, my family and I are all surprised by how lovely the results can be. Rock painting has become a really fun family activity for us all. We had a great time finding our rocks in our yard that would make a perfect canvas for painting on. We used craft paints with small brushes, black fineliner pens to outline, and white gel pens to add details. We found a shell shaped rock to make a pretty shell and my daughter did a really great job creating a cute cactus design on an oblong shaped rock.
I have followed Sehnaz Bac on Facebook and have purchased her painted rocks (owls and mandalas) from her Etsy page. I am a huge fan of her painted rocks because they are so detailed and so very colorful! I am not an artist but I bought her book just to see how she makes the magic happen! The pictures and the "how-to-do-it" explanations are very informative. So many people ask how she does it on her Facebook page. This is the book with the answers! 30 different designs are featured including her birds, flowers, owls, amazing mandalas and hearts as well as her frog pad with a tiny lady bug and frog on it. This book is a treasure!
So disappointed! Not the book itself, but the way it is presented on Kindle. I just ordered this book on Kindle, downloaded to my PC and the print was so tiny I could not see to read it. I tried to adjust the font size and it would not change. It only allows for one column as well. I increased my zoom on my PC and it did not change the size at all. I tried to read it on my phone, same problems. Could not get it to enlarge at all. Very frustrating! I returned it and will most likely buy the paperback. I guess it is just not compatible with Kindle.
I was so excited to get this book. It has wonderful designs. But it is not a step by step book. I have Rock Art by Denise Scicluna, which is a more step-by-step book and has help me learn how to paint rocks from beginning to end.The Art of Stone Painting shows drawing then will explain steps and not show all steps. So this is not a beginner book if you are a visual person. Again, beautiful projects but once you get to the more detailed projects not all the steps are there. Steps are draw, paint and outline. You need more steps when it comes to doing some of these projects. This is just my opinion.
If anyone is looking for " how to paint whimsical animals, trees , mandalas , etc." This is the book for you. F. Sehnaz Bac gives step by step instructions , from the sketch to the finished painting on the stones . My choices of what color goes with what is often times my biggest challenge .The colors are bright, uplifting , and for me just makes a feel good sense of accomplishment . I do not think anyone would be disappointed with the help offered in this book. "The Art of Stone Painting " F. Sehnaz Bac.
I am an award winning artist that finds “The Art of Stone Painting†an excellent book. The clear and concise way it is written will help any artist, or aspiring artist, to master the art of rock painting. The author has made the list of tools and materials very useful. Each step –by-step instruction is beautifully illustrated and easy to follow. All photographs are some of the best I have seen in any book. I cannot recommend this book enough if you wish to learn how to paint rocks.
I have no experience with rock painting and needed to demonstrate it at a church function. The basic steps of drawing a design, painting it in and then using markers to define and embellish were clear and easy to follow. Pictured are my three rocks using this book. (I added names of people I pray for). I recommended the book to the group whole-heartedly.
